Current Committee Role:
I am an Education Demonstrator for National Museums Liverpool (NML), and am based in World Museum. Here i work in the Interactive Centres delivering our educational offer to a wide range of school groups and members of the public, through formal and informal activities.
I started in museums as a curatorial assistant at Liverpool Museum (as it was then called) on a government scheme for unemployed graduates. On this I worked in the geology department helping to identify and catalogue parts of the collections which were either recently acquired or had been overlooked for years. After that came the familiar run of temporary posts, including a year working as a warden on a geological SSSI, until a permanent post came up.
Along the way I have acquired an MSc in the History of Science and Technology from the University of Liverpool, a BA (Hons) in Classical Studies from the Open University, and an interest in building stones and sculpture as a way to introduce people to geology.
